The recognition of beauty in our world is to be human

The recognition of beauty in our world is to be human (although it is said that animals evolve attractive appearances for mating purposes. Evidently, we are born with personal ideals for what makes something beautiful, and though subjective, we will find that others may share in our admiration of a sunset or a butterflies wings.

Our Earth is so beautiful because we see it that way.

To a male spider, this is one hot mama

Of course, the infatuated one may lose his head.

The beauty of Earth is found everywhere: in the structure of DNA, to the smooth curves of a lover's body, to the giggles of children playing, to the diversity of natural landscapes covering our planet's surface, to spectacular views from space of Mother Earth herself, pirouetting through the solar system like clockwork.

Earth, her environments and biosphere are recognized and appreciated for their beauty not only because it is innate, and we have been conditioned to notice, but also it’s due to the fact that a life sphere like ours is so darn rare.

Sure, this universe may be teeming with life, but in our galactic neighborhood, I would argue that a planet with diverse, symbiotic ecosystems within relatively stable and temperate climates (with that magical substance, water in all its phases: solid, liquid, gas) and don’t forget, sentient beings like us to admire the wonders, and even hike through, photograph and write about them, is a very rare and beautiful thing indeed.
